Dear Colleagues,
I am aware of the importance of the Hoffman Report as needing to have
top priority at APA Council this August.
At this time, however, I would like to bring to your attention a
wonderful community service opportunity for APA and our related
Divisions/Caucuses.
The Louisiana Psychological Association (LPA) will be conducting
Hurricane Katrina 10th Anniversary Wellness Workshops on August 22nd and 29th
in New Orleans for those citizens who have been deeply affected by Hurricane
Katrina and related events. As you are aware, Anniversary reactions can be
overwhelming.
In 2006, at the one year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, our
Wellness Workshops were very successful in addressing and ameliorating those
reactions. At that time, we had the support, financial and otherwise, of
government agencies, community services (Louisiana Spirit), and professional
organizations. That was in 2006. Louisiana Spirit funds, however, are no longer
available.
On behalf of LPA, I am requesting your financial support ($250 per
organization/entity and therapeutic involvement, if possible. Please see
attached.
Your support of this community service would be deeply appreciated.
contributions would need to be received on or before August 10, 2015.
