We explored both the cryogel and the pyrogel versions for that, and I
think eventually settled on the cryogel. It came from the aerogel.com
folks. Flammability was a concern I had; iirc the cryogel is a PET
felt matrix, and the pyrogel used a carbon fiber felt. I think we
liked the LOX compatibility of the pyrogel better, but low-temp
handling and bonding concerns won out, but those details are a bit
foggy.

We used some sort of flexible aerogel blanket (under a fitted cloth wear
cover) on the X-Racer LOX tank back in the day. Don't recall the brand, but
it worked well, insulationwise. A bit fragile to handle. I gather they've
gotten better on that since.
The Zotek (fluoropolymer closed-cell foam) doesn't get crunchy at cryo temps?
That's not clear from their product page - no mention of cryo apps there -
but plausible, for a fluoropolymer.

The new hotness is Zotek, which is more flame resistant.

Maybe it's very appealing, I'm going to withhold judgement until I see

Anyone experimented with Airo Gel or (glas)microballoon+binder based
insulations?
