I assume that this system must have propulsion to launch from the Kaber
system and return with any kind of accuracy. I really like Jon Goff's idea
for throwing payloads off the ISS. It's a shame it didn't implemented.
In case whoever does own this paticular project is reading, I want to offer
some advice as someone who has seen the certification process for vehicles
with propulsion on the ISS pressurized space.
It is a bad experience. There appears to be no offices who can say 'yes'
and only offices that can say 'no'. In the paper attached, Adam and Melissa
go over numerous safety features that were added to make the system safe to
be around humans, but they were not good enough. The batteries were also a
big challenge. NASA JSC office seems to prefer the 18650 cells, the testing
requirements for anything else were incredibly onerous. The track record of
certain cells being used in a couple of Mars rovers means nothing at JSC.
