Leather is a fuel and impregnated with oils to make it flexible and last a
long time.
I worked with LOx and >98& HTP and both oxidizers will cause leather and
other fuels to burn explosively
the later spontaneously. There were explosions on the D-558 manned rocket
plane which were traced to the
leather gaskets used in the LOx system. Ignition was mechanical shock from
the turbopump vibrations transmitted
through the plumbing.
I personally saw LOx explode with open cell foams like a couch cushion and
ignite dry grass with a dropper of 98% HTP.
Not for the rookie amature.

Is the old Armadillo video still out there somewhere? Does anyone have
a copy they could share?
Thanks!

There was one of these videos from Armadillo back in the day, but nice
to see it done again at FAR. This demo takes a "more is better"
approach, no pipette here.

Though the chicken drumstick that gets ejected seems superfluous. Meat
just bleaches in peroxide, it's not very reactive.
