We are launching a 'small scale' sugar 2-stage January 6 at the FAR site to
45,000' for testing our staging avionics and recovery. The carbon fiber rocket
will be using aluminum motor casings in each stage (already successfully flown
individually)

Looks great. I suppose you guys are still using steel casings? I'd like to
your mass ratios when you switch to aluminum, and then finally to carbon
fiber. BTW, there are filament winding machines available from Xwinder.com,
for costs in the range of $2,800 to $3,800.
Also, you could get significant altitude with a 2-stage using a single
grain as the upper stage.

Last weekend at FAR we had a successful 12" KNSB 3 grain motor burn,
previous had 2 grains...2 for 2 success for the 12" motor.
Perhaps when we are done testing (and flying) this motor case we might
push it to it's limit.
