That's probably it, NTO and water for concentrated nitric acid.
But the seats should be resistant to NA, poor design or something else?

apparently damaged the valve seats.  Which is ... unusual, if you're
exposing them to NTO they should be NTO resistant.  One possible
complicating factor is that the capsule was rained on and possible water /
NTO interactions into nitric acid have to be looked at.  But I've always
assumed that could happen if I was designing around NTO.  Not clear what
the postmortem will show, early in the diagnostics.
