Don't know how many motor casings you've made but I've made and fired over 1000
and many of those were pushed to the limits and let's just say I have a fair
bit of empirical evidence to substantiate what I said.

With a 50% depth groove you will loose much more than 50% of
of longitudinal strength the original pipe used to have.
