(Don't try this at home! As with short UV, this is one of those cases
where an
invisible wavelength could damage your eyes without warning you.
Modern IR laser diodes and even LEDs are probably much brighter than what
he was using...)
Although at least IR is on the "safer" (lower energy) side of visible light
spectrum so you're probably more likely to feel any damage... eh...
