Best thing I've found to prevent galling on aluminum (and stainless) threads
is Neolube: colloidal graphite in an isopropyl suspension.Paint it on, allow
the alcohol to dry, then join the parts.
It also seems to work well in removing rust from steel components.

It's trying to solve basically the same problem: reduce friction and
galling. Galling is, I believe, a similar problem to things like
preventing a built-up edge. Cutting fluids for aluminum work best when
they're *lubricants*; this distinguishes them from fluids meant for
things like steels, where heat removal matters as well.
And if you haven't tried it for taps, it's well worth it. Noticeably
better than ordinary oils. (The difference is most pronounced in the
gummier alloys, IMHO.)
Kerosene and light waxes (or, I presume, lard; I've never tried it)
work better than ordinary machining oils. WD-40 is better than those,
IMHO, but still not as good as the specialty fluids.
