This seems analogous to problems encountered in distillation.

Has anyone built a fractioning column on a sparger? Is there any
reason it wouldn't work analogously to a fractional distillation
process?

Presumably if you get the refluxing setup correct you could even draw
off the column instead of the bottoms and get rid of most of the
stabilizers.

(And yes, this sounds like exactly the sort of serious chemical
engineering project that is suspiciously not building a rocket
engine...)
