Thank you, Bill; my condolences to you, and his other friends, and

My friend and mentor George Dosa died yesterday morning, age 96.
George was a masterful self-taught engineer and a genius amateur
machinist who taught me—more than half a century ago—how to
operate a lathe and mill and the practice of amateur rocket building.
That my first rockets successfully handled accelerating to Mach 1 in
seven-tenths of a second was entirely a product of his advice and
guidance.
While not as well know as many of his mentee’s George was a direct
link to the beginnings of amateur rocketry in Southern California
after World War II.
I have had the good fortune to work with many powerful people and the
good luck to know a few great human beings; I’ve never know any who
were both.
George was a very great man.
