I’m having a small but concerning consistency problem with my actuated
burst disk valve: in about 10% of tests the punch is failing to pierce the
burst disk.
The current disk is 6061-T6. The valve design fixes the disk thickness at
0.050” so I am looking at more frangible materials to assure the punch
breaks the disk at every actuation. So far I’ve considered fiberglass and
phenolic (both paper and cloth) and concluded that paper phenolic appears a
good bet.
Any other thoughts on a material that might work?
