To your "PS", not sure if you saw this. Looks like Europe's networks have
been hard hit, but I haven't heard of any other wider networking issues. I
haven't seen any large issues on the AWS side lately either, which runs
most of the internet. That being said, your local bandwidth is often
grouped with your neighbors, so maybe your neighborhood switching isn't
able to handle the load of all your neighbors.

I was a member of a Google Lunar X Prize team named LunaTrex. If you
recall, Google made the public announcements telling which teams were
competing and where they were from. This was in early 2008. We got phone
calls from a few fairly well off people. They wanted to talk to us about
participating & funding. We spoke to a few people but that wasn't until
late summer of 2008. Once the crash hit in September 2008, funding dried
up quickly. We tried to bootstrap by raising funds ourselves. The effort
was for naught. The experience with LunaTrex was eye opening.
When people lose large amounts of value in their stock portfolios, they
tend to withdraw. It will come back. How long and what are the factor,
that's another topic.

PS Has anyone else noticed the network gets boughed down and acts unstable
