We are pleased to announce that OS Update 4 for TiMachine customers and
members of the Titanium Support Scheme has now been released to the
apporpriate download site mentioned in your welcome booklet.
This operating system update is focused primarily on USB device
compatibility which was previously something of an issue for Titanium
users. Broadly speaking, this new update brings TiMachine and Titanium
customers in line with the rest of the ARMini/ARMiniX/ARMX6 range in the
area of USB device compatibility.
In practise, that means that many more mice, keyboards and wireless K&M
sets work where previously problems were seen. USB scanners such as those
supported by David Pilling's TWAIN drivers now work correctly, and issues
with some USB printers have been resolved. Certain issues with USB card
readers have also been resolved.
This makes OS Update 4 for Titanium a "critical" update, and it will be
the default OS supplied with TiMachine computers with immediate effect.
There are also improvements to LanManFS (OmniClient) to resolve issues
where files might not appear when NAS/Windows shares were viewed.
Also included are significant changes to JPEG handling in the OS, with the
built-in JPEG handling now coping with many more JPEG types including
progressive and lossless JPEGs.
As usual with official RCI Operating System upgrades, the update is
supplied with our "roll on, roll off" one-click OS upgrading software.
This allows you to upgrade, or restore back to the previous OS, with ease.
The update software provides explanation on its use, and also displays the
changes included in the new OS update in an easy-to-read fashion.
We urge all RCI TiMachine and Titanium customers to update as soon as they
can.
Best wishes,
Andrew
PS. ARMX6 OS update due next week with DPMS monitor blanking, and the JPEG
/ LanMan improvements mentioned above, amongst other things.
