Hi,
after using the Variation application again i remembered the 'feature'
noticed previously. Thumbnails are displayed in correct colours, but
a slideshow reveals the colour swap 'feature' of Titanium.
Sadly you'll find that quite a few programs are affected by this on
Titanium one way or another, if they render graphics themselves rather
than via the OS. A number of programs have been updated, but older apps
may never be. For the time being, we're cautious about recommending Ti to
people with an interest in graphics/photo work as a result (it is why we
delayed the launch of TiMachine), and we tend to discuss it pre-purchase.
Some applications (eg. NetSurf or SwiftJPEG) will have options to allow
the use of desktop screen mode, or OS routines, for graphics rendering.
This tends to resolve such problems. Unfortunately Variations doesn't
seem to have that option. As such, I'd recommend just using Variations
for its "effects" rather than as a slide-show program.
Fortunately, there's another option. SwiftJPEG can be found in the
Images.SwiftJPEG folder. You may need to press menu over its iconbar icon
and go to Choices, Full Screen and set it to "Use Desktop Screen mode",
but it will then accept a folder of JPEGs and happily slideshow them. I
noticed that it seemed to re-introduce RGB/BGR issues when the
"cross-fade" option was ticked, but the "fade to black/white" option
worked fine, so you can fade in/out the slideshow quite nicely.
Since we're on this topic, David Pilling's "DPscan" aka "The-product-
formally-known-as-Imagemaster" was recently updated on !Store to support
RGB/BGR on Titanium.
Kind wishes,
Andrew
