Hello!
I am using RPFS, first in a RiscPC and now in an ARMX6, for years
unchanged with the following options:
RemotePrinterFS#proto=LPD;host=YOUR-PRINTERS-IP;buffer=yes:
The RPFS module is placed in choices.boot.task and RMLoad-ed.
This works fine with the PostScript 2 and 3 drivers in combination
with Lexmark Optra S1955, Lexmark C540N and now a Canon MF729Cx.
I know I've said this before, but I'd *really* appreciate it if RPFS was
not recommended on a R-Comp list when we have had our LPR/JetDirectFS
drivers available for much longer. They're even in some of the ARMX6
bundles.
This is a sore point for reasons I won't mention, but suffice to say it
involves version conflicts etc.
Our LPR drivers (including JetDirect) are available on !Store and support
background printing, job queuing, and are noticably faster. They
integrate with !Printers (some versions) and provide easy
setup/configuration.
Note that I'm not disputing that RemotePrinterFS works, but where we offer
solutions (often included with the machine), I'd prefer this to be the
solution discussed, as we can properly support it and users will get the
best experience.
Kind wishes,
Andrew
