Often I want to print a copy before sending.
If the print fails the computer freezes and all is lost.
I wonder if part of the request print command could automatically save a
defer copy before initiating printing?
Auto-defer could create issues of its own as you'd have a load of "not
really" deferred emails in the software.
Better, I think to use Ctrl-B/Ctrl-R to backup/recover text in the editor.
This is a little-known/used feature, but exists for just this reason. It
allows you to back up your text temporarily, whilst composing long emails.
You can then recover/revert with Ctrl-R.
This can be particularly useful if you need to stop an email mid-way, but
aren't closing down - you don't need to fully defer it, just "save" your
work temporarily. That's what that does.
Now, it sounds like you'd quite like an auto-backup before print. That
doesn't sound too hard - let me look (always tricky as editor is toolbox
code in C++ which isn't my first language)...
(Andrew fiddles for a bit)...
TBC...
