Great recall, my friend!
The SigEp OB brothers were an interesting sight indeed with their oversized
upper torso mismatched to their lower extremities. Like their high school
couldn’t afford a leg press or squat rack; only upper body equipment.
Limmer is exactly as you stated. I had the good fortune of working with him on
a project in Scottsdale through his landscape company many years ago. I never
saw anything get him riled up – even when you’d fully expect him to rip into
someone. He would just move on to next option. Very great guy! I don’t recall
his white headband. But I do recall his younger sister Barb! 😉
Car-less and stuck in Tucson one weekend, Barb had gone to her home in
Scottsdale. So, I hitchhiked to Phoenix. Made it as far as Picacho Peak by an
old guy (like we all are now!) exercising his classic Citroen up and down I-10.
Then (after walking along the interstate for an hour) I got a ride from a
younger guy from Texas going to see his girlfriend in San Diego in this late
60’s Red Orange Dodge Charger.
So we’re driving along and he’s telling me his story and the I-8 exit to San
Diego is fast approaching. Thinking I don’t want to have to get ANOTHER ride, I
quickly tell him that going through Phoenix is much faster than taking I-8.
Nice of me huh? Anyway, he dropped me off at the 40th St exit and I walked to
Allfab, Big J was happy I made home safely (he was ALWAYS at Allfab on
weekends), but my mom (good ol’ Sue) was furious, and gave me an earful. “Do
you know what could have happened to you! Don’t you EVER do that again!”…
And then loaned me family station wagon to take myself with Barb Limmer back to
Tucson.

Great guy, gentle giant, hell of a player, imposing his will in the paint...and
he preceded Jason Terry and Kerr Kriisa in Arizona lore with wearing a white
headband!
The "odd body" twins from SigEp were no match vs. Limmer.
