Hi,
you should simply press space or return. Pressing a capital
letter is for setting up FWA compensation using a spectral instrument.

icoms: About to return read 'X -102.31^IY -107.04^IZ -154.62^M<00>' ICOM
err 0x0
icoms: Write_Read Write_Read success, returning 'X -102.31^IY -107.04^IZ
-154.62^M<00>'
Looks like something is wrong with the instrument itself, almost as if
it has had a black calibration done on a white reference.

Run dispcal again with the -J option, and make sure you follow the
instructions and calibrate the instrument against absolute black, ie.
make sure the instrument is against a black surface and shielded from
direct light.

You don't have to complete the dispcal, just go through the instrument
calibration and exit.

Try a spotread again after that, and see if the readings look more reasonable.

Alright, I did "dispwin -d2 -m" for white:

root@linux:~# dispcal -J -yl
Place cap on the instrument, or place in on a dark surface,
or place on the white calibration reference,
and then hit any key to continue,
or hit Esc or Q to abort:
Calibration complete
[...]

and afterwards spotread again:
# spotread -D8 -yl
usb_get_paths about to look through buses:

Looks like the value are not negativ any more - are they more reasonable for you?

What am I supposed to do next?

You're really helpful, thanks so far!

Cheers
