Thats a nice check. Try the following from a terminal window.

wget http://www.normankoren.com/ColorChecker_sRGB_small2.jpg
cp ColorChecker_sRGB_small2.jpg test1.jpg
cp ColorChecker_sRGB_small2.jpg test2.jpg

eog test1.jpg &

wget http://hoech.net/files/BRG.icc
dispwin -I BRG.icc
eog test2.jpg &

If your eog version does not support colormanagment test1.jpg and
test2.jpg should be identical. If they are very different eog have
read your display profile correctly.
Be sure to install your correct profile afterwards.
