I'm an dispcalGUI / Argyll CMS noob, but am extremely glad I tried thisout before deciding to return my Spyder3 Pro. The calibration with Argyll is significantly better than the results I was getting from the Sypder3 software. After calibration& profiling, I have a new monitor profile installed in Windows 7. I've switched between the new and old profiles with dispwin to observe the differences. However, when the laptop wakes from sleep or hibernate, the monitor profile information appears to be lost and the colors return to the system default. With the Spyder3 utility, they had a taskbar utility that would reapplythe monitor profile after a few seconds. It was annoying, but at least my profile was reapplied. Is this normal behavior? Is there some utility I need to be running after wake to reapply the monitor profile?
It could be a video driver bug (on my Windows 7 PC, which has an Nvidia card, the calibration sticks after suspend/hibernate). The profile loader which gets installed by dispcalGUI only runs after login. If you know your way around the Windows 7 Task Scheduler, you could create a task which runs after standby/hibernate to re-apply the calibration (set a trigger of "Event", log "System", source "Power-Troubleshooter", event ID 1, and set "Execute program" as action with the path of the dispcalGUI profile loader which can be found under "Autostart" in the Start Menu).
Thanks, - eric
