[argyllcms] New color difference formula for viewing samples with no separation between them

I just encountered information from the author of a recent publication for a work on a new color difference formula (∆E_NS) for viewing samples with no separation between them - a viewing mode common in many printing applications (packaging, tiling, spot color matching, ...) for which existing formulae underpredict perceived differences.

Do you think it is useful and practical addition to the color measurement practice?
