I printed a page after your replay and the values seem to match up pretty
good so I think it works...
Now I have to give the printtarg parameters another look.

In theory, no. In practice? You'd have to test.

My goal is to fit 2x396 patches, 1.2cm wide (for the colormunki) on one
A3+ page.

A much better way to achieve your goal is to adjust the parameters to
printtarg. It does everything you need.
