certainly in theory it's possible to edit a profile and delete the
cLUT tags to leave just the transfer curves and matrix, but
ArgyllCMS doesn't have such a general purpose editing tool.

Some HowTos for DisplayCal warn to create XYZLUT+MTX because of possible
incompatibilities.
If I figure out a workflow, I'll post it here.
