I would say if Limb salvage is an option go for it . This usually means the
limb is expected to have some functionality
after surgery.

I saw this particular patient for another PT today. This patient who is a 65
yr old, healthy, home health patient has a diagnosis of a giant osteosarcoma in
her hip . She relayed that her current surgical options were hemipelvectomy
with salvage of LE from one surgeon vs hemipelvectomy with LE amputation. She
is meeting with both surgeons and looking for any information regarding
functional outcomes to make a choice between these two options or choose to
refuse surgery. Any thoughts or recommendations?
Sincerely,
Barbara
