We need you! Advocate for fall prevention issues
Contact your representatives by April 23

APTA Geriatrics is collaborating with the National Council on Aging (NCOA) to
advocate for increased federal funding for fall prevention. Rep. Joe Morelle
(D-NY) is circulating an invitation to his U.S. House of Representatives
colleagues to sign on to a joint letter requesting increased funding for fiscal
year 2022 (FY22) for three accounts that support falls prevention. The requests
include:

·    An increase to $10 million (from $5 million) for Administration for
Community Living (ACL) falls prevention activities
·    An increase to $4.1 million (from $2.1 million) for Centers for Disease
Control (CDC) falls prevention activities
·    At least $16.3 million (the amount authorized for FY22) for Aging Network
Support, to provide resources for ACL interagency coordination of home
modification and other falls prevention federal initiatives.

NCOA has created a website with a template letter for all supporting groups to
use to contact their member of the House of Representatives asking them to
sign-on to Rep. Morelle’s “Dear Colleague” letter. The deadline is April 23,
2021.
