Subject: Document and Artifact Donation/Loan for Apollo Restoration
Good Morning! Attached are two forms that we request you send to your group
and fellow Flight Controllers who may have Apollo documents and/or
artifacts that we can duplicate or use for the Apollo MCC Restoration
Project. One form is for documents, one form is for artifacts. They may
choose whether or not they want the material returned to them. The shipping
instructions are on each form.
If anyone has a financial issue with shipping them to us, please have them
contact me and I can arrange transportation for them.
These documents and artifacts will be carefully and strictly controlled. We
have created a database for tracking every step of the document process and
to ensure a safe return of the item. Only those individuals with artifact
training will handle the items. Our plan is to scan – by hand – every page
of the documents to capture them for posterity. Only those pages that will
be shown when placed on the consoles will be copied. Artifacts donated will
be cleaned and placed in the MCC if applicable and secured to prevent
theft. Items not for MCC display will be held in development of a display.
Artifacts loaned will be used to create facsimiles of the item for display
in the MCC and then returned.
