Belatedly, but as promised to those on the webinar, I'm sending to the
participants in the April 4th webinar on "What is Democratic Socialism"
(that i led with NYC DSA co-chair Rahel Biru) a copy of the Power Point
presentation and the (more detailed and informative) script to the Power
Point.
Some of you signed up for the webinar, but weren't able to make it, but I
hope you appreciate these materials, as well. We should be scheduling
another webinar shortly. Feel free to sign up for that one.
I'm also attaching a copy of the "Intro To DSA reading list" that appears
on the DSA website under the Basic Resources section. It includes web
addresses/links for all the short readings (combination of official DSA
publications and relatively short pieces written by DSA members).

Folks also asked for some basic readings on socialist-feminism...
a first-rate current piece (though fairly theoretical) by
socialist-feminist Nancy Fraser, "Contradictions of Capital and Care" is
worth a glance...

Zillah Eisenstein's essay "Capitalism, Patriarchy and the Case for
Socialist Feminism" is a classic...I'd attach a PDF of the essay, except
that takes up a lot of bits and might block the e-mail for some of you..
Also worth checking out bell hooks' first book (and her others), "Ain't I
a Woman" It's a classic socialist-feminist work, as is Angela Davis's
book, Women, Race and Class.
Anything by Nancy Fraser is worth a read; she writes pretty accessibly for
a political theorist, but might be best for folks who feel they have a
basic grasp of socialism.
Another classic work, The Combahee River Collective statement written by a
Black feminist collective in 1974

interested in learning about DSA's vision of democratic socialism.
