We have begun using *No Permanent City; Stories from Mennonite History and
Life *as a springboard for our Sunday class discussions. This week we will
start our discussion with Chapter 2 - The Doubting Priest, but if you don't
read it that's ok since we stay "on topic" for about 5 minutes.
We will aim to touch on the origins Anabaptist thought; what were the
sources that prompted Anabaptists to challenge existing religious thought
in order to move closer to Christian life?
It would be great to have input from many members in this fascinating arena
since that is what class is all about, sharing and strengthening our
understanding as members of the church. If we get to it, maybe we can
explore what relevance the centuries of Anabaptist history have to our
Church today.
A loose format will be used to introduce the chapter (attached as pdf) and
two of the hundreds of possible sources for Anabaptist formation, humanism
and mysticism in the 16th century.
