Like so many others who struggle with the day to day challenges of modern economic reality, several families at Trinity CDC rely on our Trinity Cares Fund to help keep their children enrolled. When jobs pay less than what it costs to live in Austin, families are stretched to the limit; especially when other issues arise unexpectedly. A mom who suddenly has to go to the emergency room, a car that breaks down, a break-up of the family, the cost of higher education loans; are all examples of situations that our parents are experiencing. Recently we received this letter from a young mom: “Y’all have been a safe haven, something that I can depend on whether I can afford it or not. My son has had a safe place to grow and learn and interact with peers. With so many troubles in my life, I am so thankful I have Trinity. Knowing that I have support from someone makes my hectic world feel a little at ease. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.” The money we raised during Amplify Austin will go a long way towards helping us meet the needs of our families, but our annual budget did not anticipate ‘Sequestration,’ which meant a freeze of all new Workforce child care subsidies for several months - and these subsidies will remain frozen at least until the summer, leaving many families still in need. We know we will continue to consistently provide the best start for children (regardless of their parents’ ability to pay full tuition) in order to prepare them for elementary school success, even as it gets more challenging to do so. We need YOU to participate in our fundraising events so that Trinity CDC can continue to make a difference to young children who live in difficult, stressful situations. Come to this very special event and preview Friday night (and come back on Saturday!) – find a great bargain! We appreciate all your support! *You may forward this to YOUR friends and neighbors … -- Kathy Smith Director Trinity Child Development Center 5801 Westminster Dr. Austin, TX 78723 (512) 928-2212 www.trinitycdc.org
