ANYONE INTERESTED IN THIS FUN EVENT? -

This public event happens every full moon (during Summer) and is put on by the Latino Club of Austin.  Friday the 4th of September at 7:00pm is the last organized "Latino Moonlight Serenade" for the year.  I can't rave enough about how beautiful this event is.  The music is wonderful,  the breeze on the water is so refreshing and the views of down town as the moon rises over it is really sensational.  There is nothing more relaxing than canoeing a little ways down the lake, drifting along side the barge, while lying in your canoe staring up at the stars and listening to the beautiful Latino musicians.  It costs $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under and it lasts until around 9:30 or 10pm.   The registration form and details about the event are listed below by the organization which puts this on.

I usually go from work to Whole Foods on Sixth street,  buy some dinner and then drive down to Lady Bird Lake and sit and eat my dinner on the dock (across from Austin High School).  If you would like to join me for a dinner prior to the event (make sure you eat something before you come or you will be starving) please email me to let me know.  You will need to bring clothes which can get wet as the water comes into the canoe as you paddle,  a towel to leave in your car, the printed and signed Waiver (request from Federico) and cash for payment.

You must email Federico to let him know you want to attend (limited numbers of canoes).  Give him your full name,  number of people in your party, the number and type of canoe/kyake  you want (single or double).  Ask him to send you the waiver ahead of time so you do not have to stand around at registration - it is much faster.

Here is the email I received.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Dear friends of the Latino Moonlight SerenadesTM:

I am pleased to invite you to the next Latino Moonlight SerenadeTM, which is scheduled for FRIDAY, September 4.

This will be the last such event for 2009. We will resume them again in April, 2010. So don't miss this special, exclusively Austin event.

Once again, the weather will most probably be hot. So come enjoy the evening breeze on the lake while you watch the moon rise.

As usual, you should be at the dock by 7:00 p.m. for a launch time by 7:30 p.m.

Live music will be provided by a duo or trio of musicians, who will offer a variety of romantic songs just right for the evening mood.

The TRC rowing dock located right behind Austin High School.

For a map and directions, go to: http://www.texasrowingcenter.com/map_and_directions.htm

The price remains the same: $10 per person; $5 for children 12 years or younger.

Reservations are required, preferably via e-mail Federico@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

You may also RSVP at: http://www.gohispano.com/austin/Moonlight-Serenade-Registration-Form.html

If you register via e-mail, be sure to indicate how many people, what equipment you wish to use (single, double, triple kayak or canoe), and a contact phone. The phone is needed just in case there is any last minute weather related change of schedule.

Please spread the word and do come by for this Latino Moonlight Serenade.

Hope to see you real soon!

Cordially,

Federico Subervi
