Speakers will be: - Kathy Miller, president of the Texas Freedom Network, who will discuss the statutory and Constitutional powers of the State Board of Education and its actions during the last few years. - Lynn Moak, principal of Moak Casey and Associates and former staff member of the Texas Education Association, who will discuss the financial powers of the SBOE in managing the Texas Permanent School Fund, and how board members are compensated. - George Rislov, of Compass Learning and former director of the Texas Education Association's Division of Curriculum, who will discuss the curriculum guidelines process and the limits of SBOE's power over the process. He will also explain how a new board could undo this year's actions by the current SBOE. Moderating the forum will be League member Susan Morrison. The public is encouraged to attend and participate in the question-and-answer period following the presentations.
