car.... you know, in case zombies come

*Back to School Bucket* - Gloria Neunaber and granddaughter Emme -
includes things like a lunch bag with ice pack, desk light, pencil holder
w/clock, and usual things like notebooks, pencils, crayons, etc.
4.
*Gardening Bucket* - Community Garden/Rebecca and Sam.

*Bucket of Great Music *- Michael Shirk.
6.
*Tea Bucket* - Marilyn Lehman - a bucket with tea things.
7.
*Bucket of baked goods* - Dixie Yoder.
Here's some ideas for the remaining five or so buckets we need:
1. a bucket of tools for the home.
2. a bucket of cleaning supplies for the home.
3. BBQ items.
4. a bucket of spices and seasonings
5. a bucket of fun things for summer (sunscreen, towels, games, sand
toys, water toys, etc.)

- Marcia - happy that her sister's recent surgery revealed benign
growths.
- Christopher - grandpa Lupe is out of the hospital and is feeling
better.
- Mary - enjoyed a recent family reunion and is glad for her niece
having the opportunity to intern with a 7th grade teacher.
- Ann - continue to pray for Donna who struggles with ongoing pain.
- Ted - with Dama's brother's sudden death they took a recent trip to
Belize and greatly appreciated the support of the church and community
there. They are returning to Belize this week for a court appearance. Pray
for us as we travel and try to resolve lingering land ownership issues.
- Asbestos abatement continues at nearby Gaston Apartments.
- Kristen - pray for friend Guy Yarwood who lost his wife recently. Guy
is also dealing with stomach cancer and is responding well to treatment and
is thinking of returning to work.

Schedule for Jul 29, SUN:
9:30am – Sunday school for all ages.

Children and youth classes will look at the parable of the sower and the
seed in Mark 4:1–20. A sower’s seed fell on the path, rocky ground, thorns,
and good soil. Jesus interpreted the seed as the word of the kingdom.
Students compare God’s message to a growing seed.

Adults will be exploring Luke 14:15-24, The Parable of the Great Banquet.
10:30am – Snacks.
11:00am – Worship will be hymn-singing throughout the service.

Aug 2, THU, 7pm - Meeting at the church with Elaine Cohen (Jewish Voice for
Peace) and Linda Rowold-Brown. Elaine and Linda represent the Austin
Sanctuary Network (ASN) and Austin Tan Cerca de la Frontera (ATCF). Elaine
and Linda participated in the May delegation to the border with ATCF, a
group that works to support the struggle for dignity and justice for the
workers in the maquiladoras (sweatshops) just across the border. You are
invited to join the conversation to learn more about the work of these
organizations.
Aug 3, FRI, 6-8pm - Serving a meal at the homeless shelter. Volunteers

Aug 5, SUN - Sunday school, worship with Rev. Rachel Epp Miller preaching,
communion, and a potluck fellowship meal. Youth meet after the meal.
Aug 11, SAT, 7pm - Boots, Buckets & Barrows at AMC!!! Let's do all we can
to get the word out about this stellar event. Invite people. Take flyers

*This production is a partnership with Mennonite Disaster Services, an
event that is part theater show-part auction, to raise awareness, funds,
and volunteers for MDS. The show is interrupted two times to auction off
buckets of home-related items – homemade breads and kitchen goods, games,
or a bucket of house tools compiled by the hosting congregation. Ted and
Jeff run the auction process, with often hilarious, but effective, results
for fundraising.*
