Hang in there Kathy...I'm not a computer geek so I can't help...
but I remember seeing in the posts on Amaya board something about
shutting off 'virus protection' before loading the two programs and haven't
seen anyone replying to you about doing that. I think it's an incompatibility
between the melco programs and virus catchers.
Lots of posts on the amaya board that might help-have got to get you into
that so you can 'search' and go through them!

Well, I'm getting a little (ok a lot) less patient than when I started this
process. Used this procedure today and the computer didn't care that it was a
new day--still doesn't work. Simply put when I start the Amaya OS it tells me
that I don't have an ethernet connection, restart computer. How in the world
can this same message come up on two different working computers??? I hope
Dorothy is available for a call today................ Anyone else with ANY
ideas?

      Kathy,

Did the information I sent you work.
It sounds exactly like the problem we had 4 weeks ago with a customer.
I was able to run their machine with my laptop, using their cable and
dongle without a problem, however their new laptop wouldn’t work.
Re-installing the software using the installation procedure sent to you
fixed the problem.

      Cheers

Bought the new cable. Melco says it can't be the cable because we can't
even get that far. The OS simply won't recognize the ethernet port, gives me
an error message before the OS loads. Now mind you this is on TWO computers,
TWO different versions of the software. Was on the phone with them for 45
minutes trying everything. Gonna trying everything again tomorrow with my
fingers crossed. If anybody comes up with anything in their sleep, jet let me
know.............

First, look at your cable ends.....are the colors in the same sequence
when they're side by side (parallel)? If so, you have a standard cable NOT the
crossover one. Buy a new cable ($20ish).

Second, if you have a crossover cable, there's no guarantee it hasn't
been damaged (broken wire) so a new cable can be useful to eliminate the cable
as a problem.

Third, make sure you turn your computer on first and start your Amaya
OS before turning on the machine.

Fourth, follow the procedures to power-up for the first time.

?? - Is this a new computer or a new install of OS OR is this the same
system the Amaya was connected to before with same cabling.

Give me a call if you want.

No you can get any office depot or any computer store. Do you think
that is the problem?

Well, my software is here. Successfully loade dthe OS but the Design

Was told when I ordered the software that it probably was a software
error when I can't get the computer to recognize the crossover cable--WRONG.
Still get the message that the Amaya OS is not recognizing the ethernet
connection. Is the only place to get a crossover cable Melco?
