It must have had something to do with the last DSv9 update downloaded. I changed the dpi from 254 to a different number and then changed it back to 254 to stay. I now have as good a quality jpg files with V9 as I do with V7. What was very strange and I am not sure what was really going on but it was affecting both computers that I use. Doesn't matter now though because it is working finally.
