I have the Viking Designer Diamond and the 4D Embroidery software. The Diamond
can indeed read the VIP format as well as EXP and DST and many other formats.
As we well know, EXP and DST don't save the colors. For a simple design (one
or two colors) it doesn't matter but adding a text file with color changes is
very helpful.
A question to ask the Diamond user is whether she has updated her machine. The
very first machines were limited in the formats they could read, but that was
remedied fairly quickly with a series of updates downloadable from Viking.
