Subject: New To The Amaya - Frustrated

Hello All-

We are new to the Amaya Owner community and are having a difficult time
adjusting to this machine. After hearing great things about Melco from
someone who had owned the precursor to the Amaya, we decided to look at the
new machine and finally, after evaluating our choices best we could, went
ahead and bought one.We are now about 2-3 months into trying to use it (and
trying is the operative word) and have had nothing but problems. Thread
Breaks, Tensioning Issues, and Overall Lousy Sew Out Quality.

We talked with tech support a few days ago and they had us make a number of
adjustments, while contradicting a number of items that my wife was taught
in the Amaya class. The thread breaks have seemed to come down a bit, but
we are still very disappointed with the quality of our sew outs.

Right now, our $3,000 Brother Embroidery System is kicking the pants off the
Amaya. It produces something I feel comfortable giving our clients, while
the Amaya doesn't come close.

For example, today we ran a design on broadcloth to test it and it sewed out
ok (still not as great as the brother, but still good). Then we tested it
on pique and the fabric started to show thru. We increased the density to
try to compensate as instructed, but then that stiffened the design up so
much that it looked just as bad. Is there some magic secret here? The same
design on the Brother sews perfect with no problems.

Thread and backing wise, what do you all use? I was pretty much told the
ARC thread we bought from melco doesn't work best on this machine and we
should switch to isacord. Do you all double up on backing on t's and polo's
or single sheet it? Tear Away or Cut Away? Also, is there a sewing speed
or speed range at which this machine works best?

I am guessing you all have had possibly similar experiences when you first
started with the system and hope you can offer some advice before we decide
to sell this on eBay and move on. Seriously, we are almost at that point.
$15,000 was a lot for us to invest and we really had hoped for professional
results out of the box. I can't tell you how depressed we are at this point
and are ready to throw in the towel, and write this off as one huge mistake.

We are about ready to see if I can just pay someone to come to our house,
see if we can get all this resolved. If we can't after that, I'm done. I
really don't like giving up... It's not in my nature, but this journey has
been a lot more than I ever bargained for.

Thanks In Advance-
John
