You could use the hem as your alignment reference, or draw a line parallel to the hem to follow. Hoop the garment so that the line is in the hoop. Look up "design registration" in the operator's manual. This will teach you how to align the design at the machine. Now, a trick is to use the design origin to give you an easy reference point once the garment is hooped. Decide where you want the design to be on the garment. For this example, let's say you want it centered on the side seam and 3" above the hem. First, mark a point on the side seam 3" above the hem. Then, open the design in Design Shop and show the grid and the design origin. Then move the entire design so that it is centered 3" above the design origin line. (Use the grid to help you do this accurately.) Hoop the garment so that the bottom of the hem is visible. Load the design into the OS, but don't center the hoop or the design. Follow the design registration procedure using the bottom of the hem as your reference. This aligns your design horizontally. Then move the hoop so that the laser points to the mark on the seam. When you trace, you will see the hoop move to the center of the design, trace the design, then move back to the original point. I hope this helps. If it's as clear as mud, please feel free to call.
