You will have to either hand sew it on or open up the lining. Even if you
hooped through the pocket, there would not be enough room for the hoop to move
to the edge; the garment would not provide enough ease. Just use a real small
hoop and try to move the hoop to the edges. It will barely work with the
smallest hoop; impossible with the size hoop you need to stitch on that size
patch.
