I believe you can buy a product to "paint" the back of your patch from  
stadri emblems (_http://stadriemblems.com/_ (http://stadriemblems.com/) ); it's 
called  perm-a-stitch. I've never used it but it looks good. You could try 
wonder 
under  from the fabric store but it may not hold up as long.
