Darlene, I was having the exact same problem with on of my machines. What fixed mine was replacing the bobbin case with a new one. Don't know why, but seems to have been the fix for me. You can also go into OS under the settings header, then go to machine tab, and change the length of tail to long to see if that works for you. Design proplems, digitizing problems, Lubrication issues, selector and or knife issues, bobbin case issues, rayon vs poly thread issues, needle orientation issues, hook timing issues, selector/knife carrier block positioning, and the list goes on. What is happening is this......during the trim process, the thread selector is not catching the bobbin thread, pulling it back under the UTP (underthread presser spring) and holding it there for the knife to cut. Instead, because the selector has missed picking up the bobbin thread, it leaves it at the front portion of the bobbin case and the knife will fire and cut it off at that location, leaving a short cut bobbin pigtail. My advice would be to first isolate which needles or needles is/are giving you this problem. If it is sporatic and not happening often, then I would lean to the side of design issues. If it is happening quite often and more importantly, isolated to a certain needle or needles, then I would lean towards a specific needle calibration adjustment. But first it is important to document which needles appear to be causing the issue. I would then give Melco tech support a call and document the problem with them. It may be that a tech call would be necessary if it is happening on multiple needles and happening quite often.......
