Sounds like a fast frames is what you need. There are more size choices and you 
don't have to worry as much about the fabric bulking up like in the clamping 
system.

I've been using a fast frame for quite a while and find them to be quite 
versatile and have never had a garment "fall" of while using them.

Nice to have the tearaway backing also. That will help you quite a bit. Don't 
forget to apply some soft iron on backing to protect the baby's skin.

And please remember this. Use the smallest hoop or frame possible for the job. 
The smaller the hoop, the better the sewout.
