Dear Kathy,

Yes, I believe that Shen is correct.

I believe that there are some pop-up messages coming through your computer as well.

My name is Ila and I welcome you to the list!

I hope I can be of help!

Best regards,

Ila

Hello Kathy,
First, welcome to the list. My name is Shen. I hope you find this list enjoyable and informative. I can assure you that websites have no way of grabbing your computer and not let go. I believe what might be happening is that you may have stumbled upon a site that opens pop-ups. These are windows, on top of the original one, that opens automatically. You simply just have to press alt-F4 several more times and eventually you would be able to close all of them.
Let me know if this helps.

Hello to you all,
My name is Kathy and I am new to your list group.
I am beginning to explore the Internet and I find it very intimidating, to say the least.

Last night I got into a website and could not get out. Each time I tried to ALT plus F4 to exit it "clunked" at me.

What does this mean? What is happening ? How is it that a "site" can grab onto you and not let go?

Please advise.

Thank you.
   Kathy
