I sometime use WinMedi version 10 to listen to my audible book, but I don't
have problem loosing place. Have you tried pausing it before exiting the
WinMedi? It might work.

Subject: [adaptivetec] Markers in Windows Media Player

  Hello,

Is there a way to create "markers" in Windows Media Player Version 10 so that
I can begin reading where I previously left off?

There seem to be some preset markers of sorts, but I cannot find a way to set
a marker for an exact position.

Our public library has a service for downloading audio books, but it is
anoying to read these with Media Player because each time I stop the setting
reverts to the beginning.

  Any suggestioons would be appreciated.
