Yes, when we did the small ensemble concerts, the fee was like $150 or
something, and we got like $50 in donations from that concert.  The lady
who was there to collect the money wasn't really sure to do when the total
donations we made were less than what we owed, so she was nice and said we
could call it even.  If I remember correctly, we went in assuming we would
split donations 50/50, but the extra $150 fee was a surprise until like the
day of.

I'd like them to be able to tell us what the production expencences will be
ahead of time (both $$ amount and what they're actually for) before you
sign the agreement. Assuming it's not a big cost, I think it's fine to
still book even if they won't waive the production fee.  I just don't want
to be surprised at the concert with a bill that we weren't expecting.

I would think the production costs for the patio would be cheaper than
inside where they charged us for lights and sound.  Plus, it should be a
much bigger audience, so hopefully a bigger take on donations.

What would be considered a "production" expense? I'm fairly certain we
don't need sound or light people, if that's what they are referring to.
