I have just learned that Corkey Robinson is expected to only live about
another week or so. He is in his late 90s and lived a long and
purposeful life. He was one of the people responsible for the creation of
the Austin Civic Wind Ensemble. He played in ACWE for many years and
conducted from time to time. He attended one of our 40th anniversary
concerts a few years ago. Corkey is well known in the Central Texas band
world and was band and orchestra director at Austin High School from 1961
through 1988. More on him here:
