NEW DELHI: The Society for Disability and Rehabilitation Studies has expressed
deep anguish over what it called the "lackadaisical attitude" of Union Railways
Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav for neglecting the problems and barriers faced by
person with disabilities in his Railway Budget.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Society's Honorary President G.N. Karna
said the proposal of 50 per cent concession facility for victims with loss
of limbs for transplantation of limbs was nothing but a betrayal as the
existing 75 per cent concession provided to people with certain disabilities has
been squeezed in the new concession, he said.
