Hi Storm, To install Vinux to a USB pendrive you need to be running from the live CD or have an .iso image available if you are doing it from an installed version. You need to place the USB pendrive into the USB port and then start the 'Install to USB pendrive' application on the administration menu. This will automatically detect the USB pendrive and CD (if you are using an iso image you will have to browse to it manually). You then set the amount of persistant storage you want to use and then start the installation. However, from what your friend says it sounds like he is having a problem mounting the USB drives in the first place. I am not sure what is causing this. Are they U3 enabled USB pendrives? Are they FAT32 formatted? It could also be a corrupted iso of course. At this stage I can only suggest he redownloads and/or reburns the CD and check the md5sum of both and try again. If that doesn't work the contact me again. drbongo -----Original Message----- From: accessiblelinux-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of Storm Dragon Sent: Mon 15/06/2009 18:36 To: accessiblelinux@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [accessiblelinux] A Question About Vinux I got a message from a friend asking the following: Hi. I got vinux to run farely nicely from live cd on my sony vaio. I wanted to install it on my flash drive. I found something in the FAQ on http://vinux.org.uk that says just plug in my USB key and it'll start the application, I presume theyy mean the software that handles the installation of vinux onto the key. It says just point the application to the ISO file or the live cd and it'll install it. But when I connect my USB key, I've tried two keys and one 250gb western didgital hard drive, all USB devices, vinux popps up a message saying it couldn't mount the drive and has an ok button. After I click ok I can locate the drive I just connected in the, I don't knwo what it's called, file browser maybe. But when I press enter on it it gets the same message. If I hit the context key on it and arrow to open and hit enter, same message. You have any ideas? Tried it on two different computers with the same problem, and of course 3 different drives.
