Yes, it is. It's an open source firmware replacement for various multimedia players. From looking at the web site at http://www.rockbox.org/ it looks like they're working on a port to the iPod Classic.
I'm not the list moderator, but I'm not sure we're still on topic for the list. I know we're talking about the iPod Classic, but I'd assume the focus of this list is more on iDevices running IOS and using VoiceOver.

Is rockbox free? Obviously, you won't get all of the features you would on an iPod Touch, but if you want the extra capacity and don't want to pay the extra money just for a music player then Rockbox or just using the iPod Classic interface is a viable option. Even if they are stored as they should and browsable by artist, genre or whatever criteria I believe it would be hard to memorize this kind of info and browse through such music library without tries and mistakes. It's not impossible but it's more elegant and convinient using the iPod Touch. BTW, I wonder why didn't they implement some kind of screen reader support in the iPod Classic.. If they could implement it onto iPod Shuffle they certainly could do it for Classic. S poštovanjem Gordan Radić On 10.9.2013. 0:31, jessica brown wrote:Hi. Here's something else you may like.
