[accessible-android] Touch Sensitivity

Is there any means of changing the screen sensitivity to touch.
What I mean is as I travel the screen to for example enter an sms
extraneous characters creep in so that instead of "my train will be
delayed by about 45 minutes" it comes out"my yeam qukk be sr;atws by er
nomirqa" or some such.
It seems that when I move to a letter and attempt to keep my finger
still so that I can tap the screen the thing enters the caracter though
it might not be the one I want.
Any ideas?
